Over the last two years, Lauren Coldwell has played a big role in Silver Cloud HR’s success. We speak exclusively with her to find out more about her role as HRIS Consultant.
When did you start working at Silver Cloud HR?
April 2017
How did you get into the HR industry?
I joined the HR profession after graduating from university. I took part in an intern programme where I worked across a wide range of different teams within HR; operations, recruitment, compensation and benefits, and projects. After the internship, I was offered a permanent role working on an HR transformation project introducing an HR and payroll system globally.
What does your role as an HRIS consultant entail?
I tend to split my role into three distinct areas; managing the test phase of a project, data migration, and training users. There’s a lot of work involved in each area but it’s an enjoyable challenge.
Do you have any particular specialisms?
At Silver Cloud HR we often work with companies who are embarking on a technology transformation for the first time. They may lack experience around testing, and this is where I can add value to my clients. Not only can I create a test strategy and plan, but I can help and guide them through the whole testing phase of the project.
What is your favourite part of your job?
I love the fact that my job changes so much. I am an advocate of change within businesses, and it’s great to see how they can continually evolve.
For me personally, every day is different and because I tend to move onto a new client every six months, I’ve always got a new challenge and new things to learn and discover. It’s very exciting.
How would you describe your job in less than 10 words?
Fast-paced, challenging yet very rewarding.
What is the most exciting technology advancement over the past 10 years?
I have a love/hate relationship with Chatbots. I think they are amazing because sometimes you do not realise that you are speaking to a computer as they are so cleverly configured. However, on the flip side, sometimes I do miss the personal interaction that you get from speaking to a person.
How will technology continue to change?
I don’t think I could even imagine what’s in store for us over the next five to ten years.
What is the best thing about working at Silver Cloud HR?
The best thing is definitely the team. Every member is super supportive, and we take the time to acknowledge the smalls wins and as well as the big wins. It makes everyone feel valued and supported.
