Meet Toby Devine, our Head of Customer Engagement

Meet Toby Devine, Silver Cloud HR's Head of Customer Engagement

.Despite being one of the newest members of the Silver Cloud HR team, Toby Devine is making a huge impact thanks to his role as Head of Customer Engagement.

We find out more about what his role entails and why he was attracted to a career within HR.

When did you start working at Silver Cloud HR?

December 2018.

How did you get into the HR industry?

It’s all I’ve ever known. As soon as I graduated from university, I began working within the HR and Recruitment industry.

What does your typical day entail?

That’s a difficult question to answer because every day is always different.

As part of my role, I’m constantly talking to new and existing clients throughout the day. I’m also regularly on the phone to Helen and Claire to discuss progress updates. As part of our daily routine, we always have a catch up at 9 am, and then again in the afternoon. These regular phone calls are an important way to ensure that we’re all working towards the same goals.

On a typical week, I’ll work from 8 am until 6 pm (although sometimes later). I’ll often travel to different locations within the UK to meet with our clients and offer a personalised, face-to-face service.

What does your role at Silver Cloud HR involve?

As Head of Customer Engagement, my role is certainly very varied. During any week, I can find myself working on sales or business development tasks. I could be building relationships with our clients and with vendors or providing advice on any of our HR transformation/technology projects.

The variety of work keeps me focused and makes it much more enjoyable. I am lucky to work across all the different aspects of the business.

I would say my main responsibilities involve managing sales enquiries, completing new business proposals and resource management/internal recruitment. Silver Cloud HR is growing so quickly that it’s important that we have the right team in place to ensure that we continue to offer the high levels of service that we are known for.

What is your favourite part of your job?

I couldn’t narrow it down to just one single aspect. For me, there are three key areas that I really enjoy about my work.

The first is getting new customers on board, working closely with them and knowing that they are happy.

The second is that I’m a sociable person, so having the chance to continually meet so many new people is a great bonus.

Finally, as a relative newcomer to the Silver Cloud HR team, I can’t describe how much I enjoy being with my colleagues. Silver Cloud HR certainly feels more like a family than a business – it makes it an extremely enjoyable experience coming to work every day.

I love it.

What is the most exciting technological advancement over the past 10 years and how will it continue to evolve?

I think without a doubt; it must be Artificial Intelligence. It’s completely changed the ways that technology works and will continue to become increasingly prevalent in everything that we use.

I’ve not really sat down and thought about how technology will continue to change in the future, but if you look at the world of industry and fast-growing organisations, it’s all about the consumer. I think technology will be used to work around the daily desires of consumers and will be designed to make their lives as easy as possible.

What would you say is the best thing about working at Silver Cloud HR?

It’s all about the people I work with and the customers we work with. We are in a people focused area/industry I think it would be strange if it wasn’t focused around the people.

The journey we are on is so exciting and motivational as well of course!
