About the project

Global law firm Three Crowns didn’t have an HR system. With a small team of talented HR professionals managing 150 employees, they were making it work but knew they could do so much more with the right system in place. This is what led them to Silver Cloud.

Since then, our relationship has only grown closer as Silver Cloud has helped Three Crowns select, implement and optimise their new system. 

The challenge

Because the Three Crowns HR team consisted largely of talent from larger firms, they felt the systems they had experience with wouldn’t be an appropriate fit for the more moderate Three Crowns. With that knowledge, they decided to seek outside expertise.  

After doing due diligence and exploring several consultancies, the Three Crowns team chose Silver Cloud for their knowledge and experience with similar businesses. Ella Brown, HR Advisor at Three Crowns, says that choosing the right system was made much easier with the help of Silver Cloud. She especially appreciated the way Silver Cloud advised on the whole-of-market without guiding toward any particular partnership. 

“I think we had sort of a big picture idea that yeah, we need a system, but actually, what do we need that to do? What exists out there?

Having the experience of Silver Cloud on board was fantastic for us because we came across systems that we'd never come across before.

They asked questions that we wouldn't have thought of asking and didn't let us get fooled by the sales pitches.” 

While they had the capability through their US teams, URBN recognised that they would need help navigating the UK and Europe markets including policies, legislation and terminologies. This is what led them to Silver Cloud for consultancy and implementation support.

The solution

Ultimately, Three Crowns chose IRIS Cascade as their new system. They found the system to be very intuitive and customisable. The team also liked that Cascade met the needs of each aspect of HR and offered a highly integrated experience. For the Three Crowns team, having a one-stop system that streamlines their workloads was a critical aspect of what they needed, and IRIS Cascade fulfilled that perfectly. 

Although IRIS isn’t one of our implementation partners, we do have significant expertise with the system. Because of this, we were called on to support the implementation of Cascade as well. Ella highlighted the instrumental role Silver Cloud played in the project, noting our expert’s deep knowledge of the Cascade system and ability to integrate seamlessly into their team.

“Silver Cloud was with us through the implementation project which I thought was brilliant because they had that real deep understanding of us. That paired with their knowledge of Cascade made them great to bounce ideas off of, ask questions to and just really rely on.”

Though not a long part of the journey, process mapping was a critical one for making sure Three Crowns has gotten the most out of their new system. Going through process mapping helped them understand their processes in a zoomed-out setting. This made mapping them onto the new system a much smoother endeavour.  

The future

Because we have an IRIS Cascade expert on our team, we were also able to offer support after the implementation. This lets Ella and her team rest easy knowing that they won’t be alone with any additional questions of capabilities they want to set up.

The team have loved working with Silver Cloud and are enjoying the ongoing support we’re providing for their new system. Ella appreciates having the additional resource to rely on when she or the team have questions about their new system – it has helped them feel like they’re really getting the most out of IRIS Cascade.

All in all, the Three Crowns team have gotten a lot out of working with Silver Cloud. We’ve helped them go from having no HR system in place to selected, set up and thriving. 

Since implementing IRIS Cascade, they’ve been able to save huge amounts of time and have a much more holistic view of their people data. This has given them time to focus on strategic work and make data-backed decisions.
